Map

October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Group of earthwork pits and possible craters on Salthouse heath, visible on 1946 (S1). The features are visible in two clusters centred on TG 0736 4192 and TG 0746 4195. Two particularly clearly defined pits are visible at TG 0738 4199 and TG 0734 4197, both measuring 3m across. The nature of these pits is unclear, it is possible that they are craters either from enemy fire or training purposes on the heath. Another possibility is that they are small slit trenches or weapons pits.
S. Massey (NMP), 15 April 2003.
