Map

October 2002. Norfolk NMP/
Group of earthwork bank and ditch linear features on Salthouse heath and visible on RAF aerial photographs from 1950 (S1). The linears follow a southwest to northeast direction and the main group runs from TG 0762 4229 to TG 0755 4227. The longest section of bank is 64m long and they all vary in width from 1-3.5m. The longest ditch is 42m and varies in width from 1-3m. Many of these linears would be likely to have been joined together. There are many similar, but larger groups of earthwork banks and ditches across the heath (NHER 27956-9). Some appear to represent trackways, whilst others appear more akin to ridge and furrow.
S. Massey (NMP), 9 May 2003.
