Full Description
November 2003. Norfolk NMP.
A group of five World War Two trenches are visible on RAF aerial photographs from 1946 (S1) and 1950 (S2). It seems likely that these trenches were constructed as part of military training exercises in the area. There are three sections of trench, all approximately 12-15m and centred around TG 0998 4313. The clearest of the group runs from TG 0999 4311 to TG 1000 4312 and is 1m wide and approximately 25m long and follows a ‘zigzag’ pattern. To the immediate south of this is another system of interconnecting trenches, although the earthworks are not as clear.
S. Massey (NMP), 17 November 2003.
