Map

January 2004. Norfolk NMP.
A possible line of World War One practice trench on Kelling Heath and visible on RAF aerial photographs from 1946 (S1). Running from TG 0990 4109 to TG 0984 4109 is the faint surface remains of a trench, consisting of crenellated and straight sections. The morphology and the fact that it seems mostly filled in by 1946 would suggest that it is the remains of World War One practice trench and would have formed part of the massive training and rifle site up on the heath.
S. Massey (NMP), 9 January 2004.
