Summary

Three World War Two bomb craters are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs. They are first visible on aerial photographs taken in March 1944, but as these are the earliest consulted photographs of the area they may have been created some months earlier. The intended target may have been the railway line (NHER 13575) that once lay approximately 100m to the east. Aerial photographs taken more recently, together with modern Ordnance Survey maps, demonstrate that the site now underlies part of Harfreys Industrial Estate; the craters themselves have presumably been levelled.
