Full Description
May 2006. Norfolk NMP.
A probable air raid shelter dating to World War Two is visible as a structure on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 5292 0984. It lay in the back garden of 44 Milton Road. This location, together with its small size, suggests that it was a private shelter, intended for the use of this particular household. It is visible as a small, rectangular, surface-level or semi-sunken structure, which is distinguished from an ordinary outbuilding by its curved shape in profile. It may have been an Anderson shelter without its usual covering of earth, or a similar proprietary design. It is not visible on more recent aerial photographs of the site, e.g. (S2), and has presumably been demolished or otherwise removed.
