Summary

A group of World War Two bomb craters are visible on aerial photographs on North Hills Marshes to the east of Hickling Priory. A searchlight battery is located 1.2km to the east (NHER 34549) and it is possible that this was the intended target.

A group of six World War Two bomb craters are visible on aerial photographs on North Hills Marshes to the east of Hickling Priory (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 4278 2448. The circular craters are 7-10m in diameter and have an outer ring of upcast material. A searchlight battery is located 1.2km to the east (NHER 34549) and it is possible that this was the intended target.
