Full Description
June 2006. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of linear ditches, possibly field boundaries of medieval date, are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TM 3121 9486. Two undated ditch cropmarks are present. These are aligned roughly southwest to northeast and northwest to southeast. This alignment does not correspond to the surviving post medieval field pattern. It is possible that they are boundaries of medieval or earlier date. The alignment of one of these cropmarks is similar to another ditch cropmark 590m to the southwest (NHER 43726). An estate map dating to 1617 (see S2) shows that this area was formerly part of Hedenham Wood (NHER 40186).
