Full Description
June 2006. Norfolk NMP
Earthworks of medieval to post medieval ditches, probably field boundaries, are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These earthworks are centred on TM 3097 9258. A group of roughly parallel ditch earthworks are present in pasture fields to the north of Willow Farm at Hedenham on aerial photographs dating to 1945 (S1). These ditches have the same broadly west northwest to east southeast alignment as the post medieval field pattern. It is likely that the ditches define small fields or paddocks associated with Willow Farm, which has a 16th century farmhouse (NHER 19470). These boundaries are not marked on the 1839 Hedenham tithe map and are likely to be of medieval to early post medieval date. A possible earthwork enclosure is located immediately to the southeast (NHER 43755). The site had been ploughed and the earthworks had been levelled by April 1967 (S2).
