Full Description
June 2006. Norfolk NMP
Earthworks of a possible trackway and boundary banks of medieval to post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These earthworks are centred on TM 3033 9230. Two parallel bank earthworks are present for 200m on a west northwest to east southeast alignment. The banks are up to 8m wide and are separated by a sunken linear earthwork in the southeastern part. It is possible that this is a trackway or hollow way, as its southeastern end appears to lead towards a modern farm track. To the north of the trackway are earthworks of narrow boundary banks, probably field boundaries. None of these earthworks correspond to features marked on the Hedenham enclosure or tithe maps of 1812 and 1839 (S2-S3) and it is likely that they are of medieval to post medieval date.
J. Albone (NMP), 13 June 2006
