Summary

A group of linear ditches is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. The features are undated, but their orientation is broadly similar to that of a possibly later prehistoric trackway and field system (NHER 44898 and 44902 respectively) visible to the northwest and they may be contemporary features. At the same time, from their general appearance, they are not entirely convincing as archaeological features, and in the absence of any other evidence the nature of the site must be regarded as ambiguous.

Map

August 2006. Norfolk NMP.
A cluster of linear ditches is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred at TG 4388 1501. Their archaeological origin is uncertain; they could instead be the product of recent agricultural activity, for example. If they are archaeological in nature, their orientation suggests that they could be contemporary with a later prehistoric (perhaps Iron Age) trackway and field system identified approximately 225m to the northwest (NHER 44898 and 44902 respectively). A Roman coin has been found nearby (NHER 22560) but whether it was associated with the ditches is not known.
