Full Description
Ashtree Farmhouse.
17th century house. Plastered timber-frame. Thatched roof with half hipped ends. Two storeys. Two windows. Two and three-light casements. Late 19th century glazed and panelled door with trellis porch. Gabled wing at rear centre with thatched roof and plastered walls, and brick chimney stack.
Information from (S1).
Ashtree farmhouse and medieval moated site.
The farm is located on a moated platform and parts of the wet moat still survive. The moated platform is a large example and apears to be linked to secondary moats in adjacent properties. It could be possible that Ash Tree Farm and neighbouring properties may have been related by ownership in the past, or may have been part of a larger medieval manor.
See (S2) for further details.
