Summary

Ashtree Farmhouse is a two storey 17th century plastered timber-frame house with a thatched roof with half hipped ends. The building has late 19th century glazed and panelled door with a trellis porch, and there is a gabled wing at the rear centre with a thatched roof, plastered walls, and brick chimney stack. The farm is located on a medieval moated platform with parts of the wet moat still surviving.

Ashtree farmhouse and medieval moated site.
The farm is located on a moated platform and parts of the wet moat still survive. The moated platform is a large example and apears to be linked to secondary moats in adjacent properties. It could be possible that Ash Tree Farm and neighbouring properties may have been related by ownership in the past, or may have been part of a larger medieval manor.
