Summary

Monks Barn is a late 18th-century house of colourwashed rubble and brick, with a roof of black glazed pantiles. This two-storey building has a gabled roof which is hipped on the north side, and shares part of a wall containing fragments of medieval work with The Rushcutters Inn (NHER 4761).

Listing Description excerpt:
"House. Late 18th century. Colourwashed rubble and brick with roof of black glazed pantiles. Two storeys. Facade to east: central fielded door within pilastered doorcase. Canted bay window above. Remainder of fenestration early 19th-century tripartite sashes in three bay disposition. Gabled roof, hipped to north."

No 48 Yarmouth Road may be considered as a group with [NHER 4761]; though it is 18th to 19th century in date so it may have originated as an outbuilding of the original building. It has been recently restored.
