May 2009. Building Survey.
Level 2 Historic Building Survey undertaken prior to proposed conversion of barn to residential use.
The barn is oriented east-west, and once formed part of a large complex of buildings dating from the 18th to early 19th centuries. It is a large structure with no additional rooms or lean-tos, with a modern 20th century garage recently added to the southern wall. Two original doors in the southern wall have also been blocked recently. The size and shape of the barn and the location of the original doors indicates that the barn was originally used for threshing. The original threshing floor is now obsured. The northern wall contains slit vents and the eastern and western walls contain later geometric vents, which support the interpretation of a threshing barn. The southern wall is obscured by an adittional wall, forming a passage, which appears to be a later addition.
