December 2009. Building survey.
The building is an L-plan with the main block to the north and the service wing in the south-west corner. The east part of the service wing retains its original roof, and is the earliest part of the building. The main façade of the building is a symetrical three-bay arrangementof two-storey canted bays flanking the doorway. There is a cornice with a timber fascia which conseals the gutter. The door is pedimented with an architrave and frieze, supported on Doric pilasters. There is a fire insurance plaque above the door from the Royal Exchance Assurance Co. The building has chimney stacks to the gable ends. The staircase is located in the central bay. A tall blocked opening on the rear wall of the cross wing suggests this was the passage of a straight staircase into the original house. A 20th century single-storey extension is located to the side of the main elevation.
