Summary

A timber framed farmhouse dating back to the 17th century with rendered wattle and daub infilling and a black and red pantiled roof. A rendered brick wing was added to the south of the 17th century house in the 19th century and a further extension to the rear in the late 19th century.

July 1951. Listed, Grade II.
Farmhouse. Late 17th and early 19th century. Timber framed with rendered wattle and daub infilling and black and red pantiled roof. 17th century house to left of porch. Lobby entrance plan. One storey and attic. Brick plinth and irregular wall posts. Panelled door left of centre 19th century. Sash to left of 19th century in original opening and 2 paired sashes to right in altered openings. 3 gabled dormers with 20th century casements. Hipped roof with axial stack above door. 19th century wing to south of rendered brick. 2 storeys . Wide pedimented porch on Tuscan order columns. 19th century panelled door. Casement to ground floor and 20th century casement to first floor. Gabled roof. Additional late 19th century wing to rear.

Visit. April 2014
One and a half storeys. Interior has exposed timber frame of service end partition. Principal posts have hacked away former brackets supporting tranverse principal joist in hall. Stack bay defined by principal posts. Roof with massive upper crucks bolted to wall plates. The cruck blades appear to form the actual rafters rather than being jointed to rafters as normally. Shutter grooves to blocked window openings Repairs are about to take place.
The two barns have staggered butt purlins, ridge boards and tension braces - 18th century. Large threshing barn has a contemporary porch.
