Full Description
June 1991. Listed, Grade II.
The house dates to around the late 16th to early 17th century, with 19th century extensions and restored in the late 20th century. It is a rendered timber frame on brick plinth with a clay pantile roof with gabled ends. There are brick axial chimney stacks. It has a two room plan, with the left hand room heated from the central axial chimney stack, the right hand room possibly originally unheated. Outshut built at rear probably in 19th century. This has a single storey and attic. The house has a symmetrical two window south front. To the left and right is a 20th century glazed door two light casement. There is a 20th century three-light casement in raking attic dormers. At the rear the main roof is carried down as a catslide over rear outshut which has 20th century casements and a 20th century glazed door. Interior: Much of the original carpentry is exposed including wall posts with moulded bracket heads supporting chamfered cross beam with hollow step stops. Left hand room has brick fireplace with low slightly cambered unchamfered timber lintel. Exposed wall framing with tension braces. In the attics wall framing wall-plates and large common rafters are exposed but the apex of the roof is ceiled.
