Summary

Fitzroy House was built as private house around 1770, of red brick with a roof of black-glazed pantiles. This three-storey building has since been split into office units, but retains an 18th-century open-string staircase with three turned balusters to each tread, fluted newel posts, and a ramped moulded handrail.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Shown on Ordnance Survey map as RDC Office. House, now offices. Built around 1770. Red brick; roof of black-glazed pantiles. Exterior: three storeys in five-window range. Central six-panelled and fielded door, the upper two panels glazed. Panelled reveals. Doorcase with pulvinated frieze and a pediment on consoles."
