Historic building recording.
The hard render was recently removed from two façades facing the street revealing early brickwork. The brick used in the construction appears to have been reused as indicated by irregular coursing and incorporation of broken bricks and bricks of different sizes. The main block is likely to date to the second half of the 16th century or early 17th century and it seems probable that the stone and medieval brick was robbed from the site of the dissolved friary to the south. The northern addition is mainly constructed from regular sized 19th century brick. The inclusion of reused medieval brick for the lowest courses, with later brick above, suggests that the early brickwork was part of a different structure - possibly a boundary wall later used to form part of the extension.
