Full Description
Probably late 17th century. Red brick and flint with plastered east front and north end. Steeply pitched black-glazed pantile roof with coped gable ends; 2 storeys. First floor 3 17th/18th century 2-light wood mullion/transom casements with leaded panes. Ground floor 2 late 19th century 3-light sashes without glazing bars. Central early 19th century doorcase with moulded architrave and cornice. Rear (west) facing Bridewell Street, ground floor flint with brick blocked openings and blocked 10-light moulded wood mullion window. First floor brick with blocked openings with moulded brick drip course at approximately floor level; row of terracotta tiles below probably 16th or 17th century with relief Tudor roses and lions rampant depicted on them, and smaller terracottas between with grotesque heads and phoenix, probably imported from another building. Interior: ground floor room with 17th century moulded ceiling beams. 18th century wing to south-east: gabled; 1st floor late 19th century sash and ground floor 2-light casement with leaded panes. 18th century south wing: red brick; steep pantile roof with brick coping to gable ends; brick dentil eaves; 2 storeys; one window.
