Summary

The two-storey building that previously occupied this site had an early 19th-century red brick front and a modern shop front that incorporated elements of an earlier shop. It was demolished at some time between 1979 and 2003.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Early 19th century red brick front to earlier building with steep pantile roof with gabled ends. Wooden eaves cornice; two storeys. First floor three sashes with glazing bars, flat rubbed brick arches. Ground floor modern recessed shop front with cornice and fascia retained from earlier shop."

The location of this record has been corrected. It was previously mapped at TG 02796 44108 due to an erroneous grid reference associated with (S1) (now corrected).

The building that now occupies this section of Bridge Street is entirely modern and the photograph taken as part of the Images of England project in 2003 clearly shows this modern building. It is unknown exactly when the listed building was demolished. See (S2) for photographs of the original building.

September 2023. Removal from Designation List.
The building was removed from the National Heritage List for England as the building was demolished with Listed Building Consent in 1980.
