Summary

Around the turn of century a 'boat' was reportedly found during the digging of marl behind Carr House Farm. A visit in September 1975 showed there was no pit here now and no local recollection of any boat.

Site visited 1 September 1975 by E. Rose (NAU).
No pit here now; oldest farm workers had heard of the old man but not the boat!
