Full Description
May 2006. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of a curvilinear ditch of unknown date are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S3). This cropmark is centred on TF 7485 3410. A curving linear ditch cropmark is present on a southwest to northeast alignment for up to 760m between TF 7466 3378 and TF 7512 3438. The ditch is crossed by the modern Fring to Great Bircham road. To the south of the road it is overlain by a small woodland called Osier Carr. It is likely that the road is of early post medieval or medieval origin, suggesting that the ditch has an even earlier date. This ditch cropmark may possibly relate to a boundary of late prehistoric, Roman or Saxon date.
