Map

June 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks and possible earthworks of a group of undated ditched boundaries are visible on aerial photographs to the north of Potter Heigham village (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 4065 2464. The archaeological origin of all of the cropmarks is not certain; some may be agricultural or caused by animal movement.

To the south of the road is a series of parallel ditches, running diagonally through the post medieval fields and obviously pre-dating them (S1), but of unknown date. They are aligned the same as those recorded within NHER 11876, which is thought to be of possible medieval date, although this is not certain. To the north of the road, centred on TG 4056 2473, is an area of possible vegetation marks and slight earthworks visible in an area of pasture in 1963 (S2). The larger ditches show as tonal differences, but also as slight earthwork hollows. The narrower ditches are quite well defined. However given the land use it must be considered that these features may be agricultural or recent in origin and not archaeological.
