Map

September 2006. Norfolk NMP.
A possible area of cropmarks, soilmarks or surface archaeological features may be visible on aerial photographs to the north of Station Road, Hopton on Sea (S1). The site is centred on TG 5263 0016. The archaeological origin of these features is not certain and it is possible that these surface marks may be the result of recent construction activities in the area and therefore have not been mapped. It is hard to tell from the aerial photograph what the condition of the ground surface is. It is possible that the ground has been stripped, possibly in advance of construction work. Although some areas of the site have the appearance of having some surface vegetation. A variety of linear surface features are visible and although it is possible that some of them are sub-surface archaeological ditches exposed by the stripping of the site, this seems unlikey given the clarity of the features. It is possible that the marks are the result of recent activity on the site and perhaps the planning and laying of services for the development.
