Full Description
March 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A pair of cropmark linear ditches of unknown date is visible on aerial photographs to the north of Eastfield Farm, Hickling (S1). The site is centred on TG 4342 2380. Other groups of similarly aligned ditches nearby have been interpreted as being Iron Age to Roman date field boundaries (NHER 43743, 43760). A sherd of Roman pottery has also been found nearby (NHER 12457). The ditches are parallel, one is 125m long and the other is 35m long. The longer ditch appears to be cut by a post medieval field boundary, suggesting that they are pre- post medieval in date.
S. Massey (NMP), 29 March 2005.
