Full Description
October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Linear cropmarks of unknown date are visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs, although a recent and agricultural origin may be possible. This feature may represent a track of some sort. It is worthy of note that a trackway exists along the same alignment further to the northeast. However, some caution must be applied assigning of any great date to this feature, as on an NLA oblique aerial photograph from 1976 (S2) a worn trackway can be seen running into the field along the same line. This could imply the cropmark might have been caused by relatively recent vehicular access into the field.
The cropmarks of a linear ditch, running from TF 9810 4024 to TF 9819 4040, are visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1). It measures 180m long and between 5-7m wide. A partial cropmark of a bank runs along part of this feature, from TF 9814 4030 to TF 9818 4039, measuring almost 100m and varying in width between 2 to 7m.
S. Massey (NMP), 17 October 2002.
