Map

October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
A ditched earthwork of possible post medieval date is visible on Hunting Survey photographs from 1969 (S1) on the side of the River Stiffkey valley near Mole Hill. A linear ditch or hollow way runs from TF 9687 4298 to TF 9694 4305, measuring approximately 100m long and 3.5m at its widest. It is situated to the immediate east of a large extraction area, marked on the 2nd edition map (1902-7, 25 inch) (S2). It is possible that it related to this extraction, perhaps to the movement of the material itself. It is also defines the edge of the allotments of the 2nd edition map, although this feature is likely to pre-date them. At its northern end to is almost aligned on a bank situated on the other side of the road (NHER 32793). This ditch is likely to be post medieval in date, although it could be earlier.
S. Massey (NMP), 22 October 2002.
