Full Description
November 2006. Norfolk NMP
Cropmarks of a possible ring ditch and linear ditches of probable Bronze Age and later date are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3211 1763. The ring ditch is sub-circular in plan with a narrow ditch and an external diameter of 28m. A short section of linear ditch cropmark leads to its south. A second curving linear ditch cropmark extends for 35m to its west, with another ditch joining it from the north at a right angle. It is possible that this ring ditch is of Bronze Age date and that it relates to a round barrow. Alternatively it could be a sub-circular to sub-oval enclosure of unknown function and possible late prehistoric date. The ditches that lead away from the ring ditch may be contemporary with it or could be later field boundaries.
