Map

September 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a possible Iron Age square barrow or ditched enclosure are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Wood Farm, Gorleston on Sea (S1). The site is centred on TG 5144 0212. This potential barrow or enclosure is located within an area of complex and multi-period cropmarks, see NHER 45057 for details on the recording of these other features.

This possible barrow is suggested by a 9m square enclosure with rounded corners, with a central elongated pit or grave cut, between 2-4m across. This feature is only visible on one set of aerial photographs and is therefore potentially of potentially dubious and non-archaeological origin, as it is not visible on oblique aerial photographs taken of the site in the summer of 1976.
S. Massey (NMP), 12 September 2006.

September 2011. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
A trenches placed to investigate these cropmarks revealed no evidence for associated sub-surface remains.
See NHER 57862 for further details.
