Map

December 2006. Norfolk NMP
Cropmarks of a possible trackway and field boundaries of unknown date are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3147 1979 and lie within former parkland around Hoveton House (NHER 30514). A possible field is defined on three sides by linear ditch cropmarks. It has a roughly square plan and measures 128m by at least 124m. The southwest side of the enclosure is formed by one of several northwest to southeast aligned ditches. One of these turns to the east at the southeast corner of the field and is joined by two more ditches running parallel to it. It is possible that these ditches define a trackway. Although the date of these ditch cropmarks is not known it is likely that they predate the park and they are probably of medieval to post medieval origin.
