Summary

In November 2007 NAU Archaeology carried out mitigation work during the construction of a new YMCA hostel. The only identified features were a series of large pits, likely to be associated with post medieval quarrying, and post medieval ceramic building material and a small quantity of animal bone were the only finds to be recovered.

December 1996. Desk-based Assessment.
An impact assessment was completed to determine the potential impact of a proposed development site at the Norwich Bus Station, which is located within the historic Late Saxon and medieval parts of the city.

December 2006-January 2007. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
Medieval and post-medieval pits revealed. There were also indications of a demolished structure amd post-medieval make-up deposits.
The results of this work are summarised in (S1). Report awaited.
