Summary

A group of ditches of unknown date is visible as cropmarks on an aerial photograph. Their archaeological significance is not certain, as many of the cropmarks visible on the photograph appear to be of natural origin, relating to a palaeochannel or similar feature that curves around the western side of Dairyhouse Farm. Some of the more regular linear cropmarks appear to fit the pattern of enclosure depicted on 19th century maps and may be post medieval field boundaries.

Map

January 2007. Norfolk NMP.
Ditches of unknown date are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 3211 2640. The more regular ditches could be post medieval field boundaries, as they appear to fit the pattern of enclosure depicted on Dilham Tithe Map (S2). (These could, however, be 19th or 20th century land drains). Some of the irregular cropmarks may be of natural origin, associated with the palaeochannel or similar feature (not mapped) visible to the west of Dairyhouse Farm. Conversely, some of the unmapped cropmarks could represent archaeological features.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 5 January 2007.
