Summary

In 2007 an archaeological watching brief at this location recorded numerous sherds of Late Saxon pottery and some fragments of butchered animal bone in a truncated deposit, perhaps the remains of a Late Saxon waste pit.

Monitoring during ground reduction of former alleyway at rear of 18 Bedford Street. From Context 1.
Numerous sherds of Late Saxon pottery and some fragments of butchered animal bone were recovered from a highly truncated deposit (possibly indicating the presence of a buried waste pit).
