Map

March 2007. Norfolk NMP
Cropmarks of undated and medieval to post medieval field boundaries and ditches are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3339 1974. A group of linear ditches are present on a variety of different alignments. Some of these have a similar alignment to the surviving post medieval field pattern and are likely to be field boundaries of medieval to post medieval date. In the northeast of the group two parallel rows of pits are present on the same alignment as some of the ditches. It is likely that these mark lines of trees or a hedgerow also defining a field boundary. In the west of the group several incomplete fields on a west southwest to east northeast axis are cut by the line of Cangate Road. This road is shown on Faden’s 1797 county map (S3) indicating that the fields are early than this date. Other ditch cropmarks, probably also field boundaries, are present on a southwest to northeast alignment but are of unknown date.
