Map

March 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of post medieval field boundaries and structures are visible on aerial photographs to the north of Mill Road (S1). The site is centred on TG 3693 2470.

At the end of Mill Road and Chapel Lane are the parchmarks and cropmarks of a former building or buildings. A small group of structures is marked on the 1841 Stalham Tithe map (S2) at this location. A number of the field boundaries also line up with a boundary marked on the Tithe map, although the cropmarks obviously reveal on earlier and more elaborate layout. A number of the field boundaries are double ditched and it is possible that they originally formed trackways. It is also possible, given the location next to the valley floor, that some the boundaries acted as drainage ditches.
