Map

March 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a possible ring ditch, potentially the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, are visible on aerial photographs to the west of Hubbard Cottage, Catfield (S1). The site is centred on TG 3678 2151. Another possible round barrow is located approximately 150m to the northeast (NHER 49308).

The ring ditch is slightly oval and measures 10m by 12m. There is a break in the ditch to the west and this is likely to be due to a break in the cropmark, rather than it being an original feature. The cropmarks of this ring ditch are quite faint and are only visible on one set of aerial photographs and located therefore some uncertainty must remain over the existence the feature. However it similarity in size and positioning to the more definite example to the northeast (NHER 49308), it seems plausible that this cropmark also represents the remains of a round barrow.
