Full Description
May 2007. Norfolk NMP
Cropmarks of linear field boundaries of unknown, possibly Iron Age to Roman, date are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TG 4092 0604. Cropmarks of double and single linear ditches are present on a south-west to north-east alignment. The spacing between the double-ditches ranges from 3m to 10m. It is possible that this is a trackway or a double-ditched field boundary. A further linear ditch cropmark is present on a roughly north-west to south-east alignment. The alignment of these ditches does not correspond to that of the modern field pattern or to cropmark field systems to the north (NHER 49394). However, they do have a similar alignment as part of an extensive Iron Age to Roman field system to the west (NHER 6096) and could be part of the same system.
