NHER 49416 (Cropmark and Earthwork record) - Cropmarks of a possible ring ditch

The cropmarks of a possible ring ditch, potentially the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, are visible on aerial photographs to the north of an area of drainage at Ranworth. The site is centred on TG 3553 1440. This possible ring ditch appears to be overlain by the corner of an enclosure of probable Roman date (NHER 11726).
The ring ditch is slightly oval and irregular in plan, measuring approximately 13m by 15m, with a large break in the ditch visible to the east of the ring. There may be some doubt to the archaeological origin of this ring ditch as it is significantly less clear than the other cropmarks of ditches in this area and it is possible that the circular feature relates to underlying geological patternings that can be seen elsewhere in the field.
