Map

May 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a possible oval ring ditch or enclosure, potentially the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow or a small prehistoric enclosure, are visible on aerial photographs to the north of an area of drainage at Sotshole. The site is centred on TG 3583 1389.
The enclosure ditch is oval, measuring approximately 23m by 17.5m. The northwestern arc of the ditch is not visible and there is a large break or causeway in the eastern half. There may be some doubt to the archaeological origin of these cropmarks as the feature is located within an area of geological markings and it is possible that the cropmarks are entirely geological in origin. However the presence of prehistoric artefacts recovered from this general area (NHER 20540) could suggest a prehistoric date for the site. Another possible ring ditch has also been identified to the north, see NHER 18333 for details.
