Summary

Undated linear ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. For the most part they probably represent field boundaries, trackways and drainage ditches. Features of various dates may be present, but a relatively late, medieval to post medieval date seems probable for most of the site.

Map

May 2007. Norfolk NMP.
Undated linear ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S3), centred at TG 4315 1384. For the most part they probably represent field boundaries, trackways and drainage ditches. Features from more than one period of activity may be visible, but a relatively late, medieval to post medieval date seems plausible for most of the site: some elements appear to be more-or-less aligned with the modern pattern of enclosure. A large oval pit-like feature which may be man-made is also visible (at TG 4305 1349). Other cropmarks of less archaeological significance, which are more likely to be of geological or recent agricultural origin, for example, have not been mapped by the NMP. They include an area of possible quarrying around All Saints’ Church (NHER 8620).
