Full Description
May 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The earthworks of ditched boundary or trackway of probable medieval to post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs running along the Hemblington and Lingwood and Burlington parish boundary (S1). The site is centred on TG 3587 1110.
This ditch runs from the Hemblington Hall Road to Burlington House and follows a parish boundary through a former strip of woodland, which is now largely grassland. A track continues south towards the house. It is possible that this ditch formed part of a post medieval trackway to the house, as may be suggested by the Tithe map for this area. Although it is also possible that the earthwork may be an earlier boundary ditch, of possible medieval to post medieval date, marking the divide between the two parishes.
