NHER 49333 (Monument record) - Group of former field boundaries of unknown, but possible Roman date

The cropmarks of a group of former field boundaries of unknown, but possible Roman date, are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Hickling Road, Sutton (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 3896 2289.
The site consists of a small, but dispersed group of ditches predominantly aligned either northwest to southeast or northeast to southwest. These are likely to represent the remains of former field boundaries and possibly, in the case of the double ditched features, trackways. The date of these features is not known, although similarly aligned field boundaries have been recorded to the north (NHER 49330) and south (NHER 49321), which were possibly associated with Roman date material found in the area during fieldwalking and metal detecting undertaken in advance of the Bacton to Great Yarmouth pipeline (NHER 33989 and 33994).
