Full Description
March 2007. Norfolk NMP.
A post medieval duck decoy is located within Middle Marsh to the east of Barton Broad (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 3694 2287. The decoy has six arms radiating from a central pool. There is no sign of this decoy on the Tithe map or Ordnance Survey first edition map (6 inch, 1879-1886). The earliest map to show this feature is the Ordnance Survey second edition (25 inch, 1902-7). Although this is likely to be due to the mapping conventions and standards, rather than indicating a twentieth century date.
S. Massey (NMP), 30 March 2007.
