Map

August 2006. Norfolk NMP.
An area of marsh is visible on aerial photographs (S1) and historic maps (S2-S3) divided into narrow elongated strips by a series of drainage ditches. The site is centred on TM 4762 9479. The Burgh St Peter and Wheatacre parish boundaries divert outwards to take in strips of this marsh and carr woodland, suggesting that the land provided an important resource or point of access. The drains along which the parish boundaries run split the land into three elongated parcels of land. This is pattern of enclosure depicted on the 1840 Wheatacre and 1842 Burgh St Peter Tithe maps (S2-S3). Earthworks visible on the aerial photographs indicate that these parcels of land were further divided by drainage ditches (not mapped) into narrow strips approximately 40m wide.
