Map

August 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a group of undated field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs to the northeast of College Farm, Aldeby (S1-S3). The site is centred on TM 4647 9225. These cropmarks are located within a much wider spread of undated and multi-phase cropmarks (NHER 44941) and a possible field system of unknown, but possibly late prehistoric to Roman date (NHER 44942).

The cropmarks recorded under this number differ in alignment from the surrounding features in that they are aligned broadly N-S or E-W. It is likely that they represent fragments of a field system or similar group of ditched boundaries. The alignment of the E-W ditches is similar to those field boundaries recorded to the east, interpreted as being post medieval in date (NHER 16003). It is possible that elements of this site are also post medieval in date, although the features are too fragmentary to be certain. Also the boundaries do not show any obvious relationship with the post medieval trackway to the northwest, which might be expected if the ditches were of this date.
