Full Description
June 2007. Norfolk NMP
Cropmarks of a possible masonry building of unknown date are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3309 0335 and were previously recorded as part of NHER 32083. Central to the group is a rectangular negative cropmark measuring approximately 15m by 6m. It has a projection to its north-west side and an open interior which measures 11m by 3m. It is possible that it represents the buried walls of a building. Adjoining its north-west side are linear negative cropmarks which appear to define further walls. To the south-east of the central building are two rectangular negative cropmarks. It is possible that these represent further areas of buried rubble, perhaps yard surfaces. The north-west part of these cropmarks overlies the ditch cropmark of a large circular enclosure of probable prehistoric date (NHER 49519). The date of the possible building cropmarks is uncertain although a Roman or post medieval date is perhaps most likely.
