Summary

An area of World War Two training or defences is visible on aerial photographs within a small quarry to the east of searchlight battery Troop headquarters (NHER 14473). The quarry shows signs of activity, possibly trench and weapons pit construction. This may have been associated with training, but it is also possible that this quarry housed air raid shelters or similar structures for the searchlight troops.
