Full Description
THIS SITE IS ALSO RECORDED UNDER NMP SITE NHER 27889.
Small square earthwork, probably medieval or post medieval, noted 9 August 1954 by R. R. Clarke (NCM).
Ordnance Survey card confuses this with church site NHER 5531; they state site was first seen on Aerofilms aerial photographs by O. G. S. Crawford in 1936, but it is not clear which this refers to.
E. Rose (NAU).
November 2002. Norfolk NMP.
It is likely that the small square enclosure recorded by R.R. Clarke is the same as a structure recorded by the NMP as part of NHER 27889 and described as follows: an apparent square structure (visible on S1 and S2), which appears as an earthwork but is possibly formed by buried walls. The structure is approximately 16m square, and the internal area is divided in half by a single north to south linear bank or wall. This is likely to be the traces of a building.
Mapping amended based on NMP plot, formerly centred at TF 6138 2132.
M. Brennand (NMP), 26 June 2003, added to this record by A. Cattermole (King's Lynn UAD), 12 December 2018.
