Map

June 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of undated and multiphase ditches are visible on aerial photographs to the immediate south of Surlingham Broad (S1). The site is centred on TG 3145 0734.

The site consists of a fragmentary linear ditches, probably the remains of former field boundaries. The date of the cropmarks is uncertain. Finds in this general area range from Bronze Age, Roman to Saxon, medieval to post medieval in date (NHER 32217, 35080, 35835, 35978-9). Given the proximity to the Broad it is possible that some of these cropmarks are actually post medieval drainage ditches.
S. Massey (NMP), 28 June 2007.
